Greenwich and Blackheath are two of London’s true villages. Their geographical location  close to the City and Canary Wharf makes them a natural choice for commuters with excellent train and DLR links allowing as little as 10 minute journey times to Canary Wharf.

The area is unique in offering acres of open space, a Royal Park and a World Heritage Site on the doorstep.

The Maritime history of Greenwich is everywhere you look. From the deck of the last of the great tea clippers, The Cutty Sark, you can see The Wren designed Royal Naval College with it’s classic colonnades and grounds leading to the steps where the Queen greeted Sir Francis Chichester on his return from the first single handed circumnavigation of the globe.

Wander into the Royal Park to the Queen’s House and the National Maritime Museum and you will be walking with Nelson, Collingwood, Cook, and countless other maritime heroes who shaped The Empire and furthered the Nations place in the forefront of Exploration and the pursuit of knowledge.

Atop the hill in Greenwich Park, with sweeping views of the Thames and the London Basin, The Royal Observatory and  Prime Meridian placed Greenwich at the centre of mankind’s search for accurate navigation and time–keeping, which facilitated exploration and the expansion of the Empire.

The area has two of the largest Conservation Areas in London, providing a mix of urban and suburban housing ranging from period mansions to modern apartments with every conceivable housing type in between.

Local schools are excellent with a number of primary schools receiving excellent reports, there are good private prep schools and easy access to excellent private secondary schools in South London.

Both Greenwich and Blackheath have that London village feel, there are few multiples trading in the shopping districts, (although each has a Marks and Spencer food outlet, Costa or Starbucks) instead you will find an eclectic mix of speciality shops, Gastro pubs, wine bars and restaurants catering for all tastes and pockets.

Cultural interests are similarly diversely catered for with a thriving theatre, comedy club and independent cinema in Greenwich and Conservatoire of Music and Concert Hall in Blackheath.

For the more active, Blackheath Rugby club and Blackheath Golf clubs each claim to be one of the longest established in the country, whilst the Heath is covered with football and cricket matches summer and winter.

The Heath and Royal Park are popular venues for outdoor events from Theatre productions to funfairs, annual kite festivals and fireworks.

So come and have a look, we hope you will enjoy what you find.
